【Abstract】 In China’s feudal society spanning over two millennia, the increasingly unequal distribution of wealth between officials and civilians prompted various reform measures driven by the state’s need for revenue.These reforms, essentially aimed at enriching the country, inevitably relied on a mindset and practices of extracting wealth from the people. In the financially troubled later stages of the Northern Song Dynasty, Su Shi consistently opposed excessive extraction and sought interests for the people. His thoughts and actions resonate with the “people-centered” concept in the Chinese path to modernization, reflecting a cultural continuity and heritage transcending different epochs of prosperity and decline.更多还原
