【Abstract】 Corporate environmental governance is closely related to sustainable development. The rapid economic development is accompanied by a substantial increase in the demand for energy, and the development of the energy industry has brought environmental pollution problems to a certain extent. From the perspective of social embeddedness, this paper studies the impact of macro-embeddedness(government regulation and media reports) on environmental governance of energy enterprises, and reveals the mediating mechanism of managers’ environmental cognition and the regulating mechanism of executives’ characteristics. Using data from Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share energy companies in China from 2010 to 2022, we find that government regulation, positive and negative media reports are positively correlated with managers’ environmental awareness, thus promoting environmental governance of energy companies. Further research shows that the above relationships have different effects under different property rights. At the same time, the personal characteristics of executives have a certain moderating effect on the relationship between management cognition and corporate environmental protection measures.更多还原
