【Abstract】 Floodplain wetlands are formed under the processes of flood cycles, and they are key zones where land and water interlace. Hydrodynamic processes such as recharge, runoff, and discharge of water bodies drive the elements cycles and biological evolution, thereby realizing the ecological functions of floodplain wetlands. Periodic inundation of floods results in significant spatiotemporal heterogeneity in the structure and permeability of the wetland hyporheic zone, leading to uncertainties in quantifying the hydrodynamic processes of floodplain wetlands. The research progresses of the hydrodynamic process in the hyporheic zone of the floodplain wetland are reviewed, and the future research directions of the hydrodynamic process of the floodplain wetland are proposed from the perspective of the dynamic change of the sediment-water interface of floodplain wetlands. The review aims to reveal the response mechanism of the hydrodynamic process in the hyporheic zone of the floodplain wetland to the flood pulse, to enrich and improve the theory and method of the coupling study of multiple environmental elements of the wetland system, to provide important scientific basis for the restoration of ecological functions of degraded wetlands caused by floods, flood resource utilization and sustainable development of wetlands.
