Foundations and implications of Human Aging Omics: A framework for identifying cumulative health risks from embryo to senescence
【摘要】 <正>We are witnessing a global demographic shift towards an aging society, driven by significant improvements in life expectancy.Over the past two decades, the average life expectancy has increased by more than 6 years from 66.8 years in 2000 to73.3 years in 2019, and is projected to reach 74.6 years by 2030[1]. This swift progression towards an increasingly aged society brings forth complex health challenges. It needs to be acknowledged that the health status in old age is the aggregate reflection of health-associated risk factors encountered throughout the course of life, making it more complex than the health status observed at any other stage of life.The introduction of Human Aging Omics(HAO) provides a pioneering research framework, elucidating the intricate progression of aging from birth to the end of life. HAO focuses on both macroscopic factors like lifestyle and environment, and microscopic factors including genetic and molecular influences, throughout an individual’s lifespan [2]. This interdisciplinary field extends beyond traditional life sciences and medicine to encompass socioecological systems and public policy, reflecting its broad scope and relevance.
