支持接收唤醒机制的UART控制器设计

【摘要】 UART是MCU芯片的常见串口通信外设。随着MCU在手持设备、物联网设备的应用越来越广泛,对低功耗需求也是越来越高。传统的UART为了降低功耗主要通过优化电路结构和算法,减少数据传输时的功耗,比如最常见的低功耗电荷泵技术,将电源电压调整至低的工作电压,从而降低功耗。介绍一种支持四种接收唤醒机制的低功耗UART电路,使用睡眠模式来降低电路功耗。实验验证,睡眠的UART接收器会在指定条件下硬件自动唤醒,然后正常地接收数据,降低功耗的同时能广泛运用在多机通信中。

【Abstract】 UART is a communication peripheral on MCU chips. As MCU chips are widely used in handheld devices and wearable devices, support for low power becomes increasingly critical for MCU chips. To meet the low-power demands, traditional UART typically reduces power consumption by optimizing circuit structure and algorithms to minimize power consumption during data transmission. One common technique is to utilize low-power charge pump technology,which adjusts the supply voltage to a low working voltage to reduce power consumption. This paper describes a UART controller circuit with receiver wakeup operation, using sleep mode to reduce circuit power consumption. Experimental verification shows that the UART receiver in sleep mode automatically wakes up under certain conditions and then receives data normally, thus reducing power consumption, and can be widely used in multi-machine communication.
