【Abstract】 In Western history, sisterhood has developed from a blood tie among sisters within a family to female friendship in the society and then women’s community in public spheres. In The Joy Luck Club, Amy Tan’s portrayal of sisterhood incorporates the aesthetics of the “quilting” tradition in Western female literature, along with Chinese philosophy of harmonious coexistence symbolized by the game of Mahjong. This synthesis eliminates the dual opposition of sisterhood on gender, class, ethnicity, and other issues,mediates the contradiction between homogenization and individuality within the female community, and thus provides the wisdom and strategy of Chinese American women for the inheritance and development of sisterhood under the background of multicultural conflicts and integration.更多还原
