【Abstract】 Drama, traditionally def ined as a mimetic rather than diegetic genre,was once excluded from narrative theories. It is with later developments in transmedial narratology that scholars have been encouraged to formulate a narratology of drama. This paper, however, argues that although a narratology of drama may help narrative theory to extend its corpus and ref ine its terms, in terms of application in dramatic criticism, it is not as meticulous as classical narratology in structural readings of the texts, nor as indepth as other, more historically informed theories in contextual readings. A narratology of drama, as it is currently practiced, does not seem able to offer a more comprehensive and rigorous approach to understanding drama and dramatic composition.更多还原
