【Abstract】 Gaston Torren’s Lingo: A Language Spotter’s Guide to Europe was published online. He takes the Internet as the medium and the ordinary Internet users as the readers, which determines the popular features of the book. Torren’s explication of the exploration of European languages is strewed with stories. Stories explain theory fully as well as fascinatingly. Torren’s book has its academic integrity, with its diachronic and synchronic explorations of European languages. On the basis of a systematic research on European languages, Torren demonstrates that Chinese has the potential to serve as a better lingua franca.更多还原
