基于语料库的《红楼梦》霍译本中双及物小句句式翻译的认知语义动因研究
A Corpus-Based Exploration of the Cognitive-Semantic Motivation for Ditransitive Clause Translation in Hawkes’ The Story of the Stone
【Abstract】 This paper conducts a corpus-based linguistic paradigmatic research on translational language features. Drawing on a parallel corpus of translated English ditransitive clauses in Hawkes’ The Story of the Stone and original Chinese clauses, this study makes a syntactic-semantic comparison between them, and further, based on a generalization of semantic commonalities, provides a cognitive event-based conceptual-semantic account for translated English ditransitive clause choice. The result shows that translated English ditransitive clauses and original Chinese clauses hold a “one-to-many” syntactic relation and share an underlying ditransitive semantic representation. Cognitively, ditransitive semantic relationship is essentially derived from an event-based ditransitive conceptual-semantic representation, which is the intrinsic cognitive motivation for English ditransitive clause translation.
