【Abstract】 Drylands is the last and most acclaimed work of contemporary Australian writer Thea Astley. Based upon dual analysis of water and drought, the paper analyzes the lives of all living beings in a so-called Drylands in Queensland and finds that the fate of the characters is closely related to water and drought. The residents are troubled by drought and flee the dry land to the coast to seek refuge.The novel shows readers the tragic living conditions of the marginalized indigenous peoples in the post-colonial era and awakens people’s sympathy.更多还原
