【Abstract】 Dong Zhongshu’s status has experienced a rising-falling-rising process during the modern times. Dong Zhongshu’s status rose rapidly with the rise of new-text Confucianism in the late Qing Dynasty, but his status began to decline with the establishment of modern academic studies during the Republic of China. The variation of Dong Zhongshu’s status reflects major changes in the modern ideological history.
