【Abstract】 Ideas on female education in modern China affected the development of women’s education and the promotion of their status, which was closely related to the survival and stability of the country. This paper reviewed the ideological evolution of women’s education in modern China that had undergone three stages:education for wives and mothers, citizenship education and gender equality education. It examined the evolutionary path of women’s education that transformed from public opinion to ideology, then to the institutionalized view on women’s education in schools, and finally to well-accepted ideas socially-rooted in educational practice. It concluded that public opinion, schooling system and educational practice played different roles in the evolution of thoughts on women’s education in modern China.更多还原
