数字图书馆中长尾效应的实证研究

【摘要】 长尾效应被认为是当今互联网发展背景下商业管理和运营的一项重要原则,在数字环境中,是否存在确切的证据表明图书馆信息资源的利用情况呈现长尾现象?文章旨在探讨图书馆信息资源利用中可能存在的相关现象,并基于此提出改进资源建设与信息服务模式的建议。文章对2022年CADAL网站完整的借阅数据进行分析,并从图书馆信息资源建设的角度出发,统计了各个区间的图书借阅总量及其占比,以确定CADAL的信息资源利用情况是否呈现长尾现象。研究发现,头部区域(资源量)的面积等于长尾(资源利用量)的面积,可以确定CADAL的信息资源利用情况呈现长尾分布。基于这一发现,文章认为图书馆应该尽可能扩展数字资源的范围,不应忽视读者学习和研究的多样性。

【Abstract】 The long tail effect is considered as an important principle in business management and operation in the context of the development of the Internet today. Is there conclusive evidence in the digital environment that the utilization of library information resources exhibits a long tail phenomenon? The article aims to explore the possible related phenomena in the utilization of library information resources, and based on this, propose suggestions for improving resource construction and information service models. Analyze the complete borrowing data of CADAL website in 2022, and from the perspective of library information resource construction, calculate the total amount and proportion of book borrowing in each interval to determine whether CADAL’s information resource utilization shows a long tail phenomenon. Research has found that the area of the head area(resource utilization) is equal to the area of the long tail(resource utilization), which can determine that the information resource utilization of CADAL presents a long tail distribution. Based on this discovery, the article suggests that libraries should expand the scope of digital resources as much as possible and should not overlook the diversity of reader learning and research.
