Resistance element welding between aluminum alloy and steel with an aluminium rivet
【Abstract】 The resistance element welding of aluminum alloy A6061 and low carbon steel Q235 was carried out with an aluminum rivet with leg diameter of 6 mm as the element, and microstructure of the joint interface area was observed by scanning electron microscopy. The effects of welding current and welding time on tensile shear load and cross tension load of the joint were studied. The results show that when the welding current is greater than 18 kA, the intermetallic compound layer is formed at the interface between the rivet leg near the nugget and the upper plate steel, and between the upper plate steel and the lower plate aluminum alloy. With the increase of welding current and welding time, the tensile shear load and cross tension load of the joint first increase and then decrease. When the welding current is 26 kA, the welding time is 300 ms, and the electrode pressure is 3.1 kN, the tensile shear load of the joint reaches the maximum, which is about 5.86 kN.
