【Abstract】 In the tragic trilogy May,Portia Coughlan and The Cat′s Edge by Marina Carr, an outstanding contemporary Irish playwright, Irish women’s ethical consciousness in identity dilemma is confused by the oppression of their living space, and individual ethical choices such as infanticide, extramarital affairs, domestic violence and incest are frequently performed, which eventually leads to ethical tragedy.The plays focus on the marginalized Irish women′s ethical dilemma of social survival, denounce the deep harm caused by the identity of angel in the room to women, and through castigating the evil of human nature, call on the public to improve their self-ethical accomplishment and regulate their own ethical cultivation.The analysis of these three plays from the perspective of ethical literary criticism will help readers understand the ethical and moral significance embedded in the lines of the plays, and encourage the audience to actively build a healthy and harmonious ethical ecology of parent-child and marriage relations.更多还原
