【Abstract】 The similarities and differences between Zhu Xi and Lu Jiuyuan are a major case in the history of Neo-Confucianism. Unlike his predecessors, Zhang Xuecheng believed that the similarities and differences between Zhu Xi and Lu Jiuyuan were rooted in two different dispositions of tenacity and flexibility. Their followers argued endlessly because they were confined to the atmosphere which is the cycle of decline and prosperity, but they didn’t realize it. Only by possessing the ability of independence in one’s mind of things and reason, could the dispute between Zhu Xi and Lu Jiuyuan be fundamentally resolved. Zhang Xuecheng’s discussion has transcended academic barriers of Neo-Confucianism, and opened up the horizon of intellectualism of this topic with the concepts of disposition, atmosphere, and judgment.更多还原
