【Abstract】 The claustrum is a thin layer of gray matter located between the cerebral external capsule and extreme capsule.Because of its special location and bidirectional connections with many areas of the cerebral cortex, it is considered to be the brain′s “conscious switch”.Until recently, little was known about the function of claustrum.Herein, the latest progress in the organization of claustrum, the characteristics of fiber connections, as well as the regulation mechanism of claustrum on consciousness, cognitive function and sleep has been reviewed, in order to provide a reference for further understanding of the structure and physiological role of claustrum.更多还原
