【Abstract】 Space design plays an increasingly important role in the development of public libraries, and user-centered multi-sensory experience design has become a new research topic. The Nasushiobara City Library in Japan has designed a reading space with a sense of “forest” to stimulate the audience’s desire to learn through multi-sensory stimulation, which has brought new perceptions to the public. Taking the library’s space design as an example, this article analyzes the impact of the “forest sense” reading space on users’ various senses. Through the inductive-deductive method, it explores the dynamic changes and influences that the spatial environment brings to users in terms of sensation, emotion, and cognition. It uncovers innovative opportunities for public libraries in spatial design and redesign. In the future, the design philosophy for public library spatial design should revolve around enhancing user experiential satisfaction. This involves meticulous creation of environmental aesthetics, thoughtful consideration of audience experience, scientifically placed sensory nodes and well-planned spatial layouts to construct visually appealing, comfortable, and scientifically designed reading spaces.
