南海北部有机碳垂向分布特征及有机碳储量估算

【摘要】 海洋水体中的有机碳包括颗粒有机碳(POC)和溶解有机碳(DOC),在海洋碳循环中起着重要作用。对于边缘海有机碳分布特征、来源等研究较多,而对于有机碳储量的研究相对较少。基于2021年5月在南海北部的有机碳数据,分析了南海北部POC和DOC的垂向变化特征,估算了该海域不同样点的有机碳储量,并揭示了其空间分布特征。结果表明,南海北部有机碳垂向分布多样,总体来看,表层有机碳含量高于底层。由于水深的变化,近岸有机碳储量低于离岸水域,但其有机碳含量水平较高。同时发现,南海北部海域颗粒有机碳含量(储量)与溶解有机碳含量(储量)具有较好的相关关系,说明两者可能具有相似的动力变化机制或源汇特征。

【Abstract】 Organic carbon in seawater, including particulate organic carbon(POC) and dissolved organic carbon(DOC),plays an important role in the marine carbon cycle. Much effort has been focused on the distribution characteristics and sources of organic carbon in marginal seas, but not much is on the stocks of organic carbon in these areas. Based on the organic carbon data in the northern South China Sea in May 2021, the vertical variations of POC and DOC in the northern South China Sea were analyzed, the organic carbon stocks at different sampling sites were estimated, and their spatial distribution characteristics were identified. The results showed that the vertical distribution of organic carbon in the northern South China Sea was diverse, but overall, the content of organic carbon in the surface layer was higher than that at the bottom.The nearshore organic carbon storage was lower than the offshore water area mainly due to the water depth, but the organic carbon content in the nearshore was relatively high. Further, it was observed that there was a good correlation between POC and DOC in concentrations/stocks in the northern South China Sea, indicating that they might have the similar dynamic change mechanism or source/sink characteristics.
