【Abstract】 Basic disciplines are the most fundamental parts in the modern scientific system, mainly including four branches of learning namely digital science, material science, life science, and earth and space science. The development of basic disciplines is influenced by multiple factors. Among them, basic research is the necessary prerequisite; basic science is the core content; knowledge remixing is the fundamental approach; communities of scholars are the necessary conditions; and institutional arrangement is the important safeguard.
