【Abstract】 In Boyle’s masterpiece, The Sceptical Chymist, the discussion on plant growth only occupies a short space, but the understanding of water runs through the whole book. His findings on plant growth were widely influential in providing empirical support for the corpuscular doctrine, and his knowledge of water is the key to our understanding of his ideology. According to the analysis of relevant records in the original materials, the discussion about plant growth in the book is not entirely based on real experiments. Boyle studied the transmutation of water through the plant-water growth experiment, and tried to explore the essence of water.更多还原
