【摘要】 钱锺书的著名论文《汉译第一首英语诗〈人生颂〉及有关二三事》是近代英诗汉译个案最有深度、最有影响力的学术成果。不过，钱锺书对晚清外交官群体的讥诮、对早期外国文学翻译“目的”的批驳、对董恂题赠诗扇意图的揣测与否定，以及对朗费罗原诗与中文首译的贬抑，却不无讨论之余地。本文尝试将《人生颂》汉译视作近代中国文人交游酬唱与逞才使气的特殊个案，澄明《长友诗》诗扇的跨文化价值蕴含，接橥诗译“二三流者”在对外文化传播与“文化外交”中的意义。更多还原

【Abstract】 Qian Zhongshu’s famous essay “Longfellow’s ‘A Psalm of Life’, the First English Poem Translated into Chinese, and Several Other Related Matters” is no doubt the most thorough and profound study of the subject to date, but there is still some room for discussion as to Qian’s ridicule of modern Chinese diplomats, his criticism of the “purpose” in modern literary translation, his repudiation of the “Psalm of Life” fan, and his depreciation of the poem and its translation. This paper attempts to interpret the special case of poetry translation as a particular phenomenon of poetry exchange and matching composition. It purports to expound the value of the “Psalm of Life” fan as a cultural object, a literary relic and an art work, and highlight the significance of translating such a “non-classic” poem into Chinese with regard to the intercultural communication and “cultural diplomacy”.更多还原
