【Abstract】 Plumage variations among poultries provide us excellent model systems to unravel the molecular mechanisms of complex traits. Moreover, the detected causal mutations responsible for plumage variations can be used for molecular breeding, such as marker assisted selection, which would be beneficial to improve breeding progress of plumage related traits. This article reviews researches on poultry plumages in recent decades. We also discuss the applications and regulatory mechanisms of these reported causal genes and mutations from studies on waterfowl plumage variations.更多还原
