【Abstract】 To satisfy the demands of new talent training, a type of experimental teaching system of functional materials with staged and multi-level construction is developedbased on the large-categories of enrollment and cultivation. Following the development law of modern materials science, the system pays attention to the design of experimental teaching courses at different stages and the connection of experimental teaching links at different levels. By means of the implementation of the system, the results show that it is conductive for undergraduate students to stimulate the interest in scientific research, and achieve the demands in different professional development directions. More importantly, the system promotes the overall upgrading of students’ capacities, including the knowledge application, research experience as well as technological innovation.
