【Abstract】 Zhang Jian was a pioneer and transitional figure in the transformational period of modern China. His religious views not only kept up with times but were rich and complex. He had unique perspectives on dealing with both orthodox Confucianism and introduced Buddhism, and held an open and positive attitude towards Christianity which was used by him at intellectual and technical levels. Zhang Jian’s pragmatic and rational approach to religions and his wisdom of utilizing Buddhist and Christian resources for local self-government made remarkable contributions to the advancement of China’s early modernization.更多还原
