【Abstract】 As a unique resource of a library, characteristic collection is a special collection different from other collections of the library, it is the most symbolic special resource of the library. Firstly, this paper discusses the significance of building local characteristic collections to improve the core competitiveness of local university libraries.Secondly, taking Tangshan University library as an example, this paper analyzes the contents and methods of building regional characteristic collections in Tangshan.
