【Abstract】 In the early days of Sanjiang Plains development, there were many challenges, such as drought weather and the deterioration of ecosystem. In March 1979,State Scientific and Technological Commission, Ministry of State Farms and Land Reclamation organized a scientific seminar to address these issues. This seminar built the scientific foundation for Sanjiang Plains to further grow to be a major national commercial grain base.This article describes the historical background of the 1979 seminar, highlight the major achievements of the seminar. Then it talks about the post-1979 seminar development of Sanjiang Plains and Heilongjiang Reclamation Area which became the “Ballast Stone” of national commercial grains. This review can provide useful references to current and future development of Sanjiang Plains and Heilongjiang Reclamation Area when dealing with various new agricultural, hydraulic and ecosystem challenges.更多还原
