【Abstract】 All organisms evolve, Darwin stated. But, how do they evolve? Is there a general pattern or trend in the evolution of organisms? These questions are rarely asked, and more rarely answered. Lack of answers to these question makes evolution dejecting and elusive to many. After surveying sexual reproduction in most plants and animals, we demonstrate that sexual reproductions, at least in most organisms, share a similar trend, namely, Offspring Development Conditioning(ODC). ODC benefits the continuation of the phylogenies in two ways: one is reinforcing physical protection of offsprings, the other is securing nutrition supply for offsprings. The trend makes the origin and evolution of reproductive organs in plants and animals rational and easy to understand. As far as we know, this pattern seems to be universal among plants and animals. We encourage and invite more colleagues to join us figuring out the applicable limit of this trend. We hope the revealing of this trend will be helpful for establishing an evolutionary framework for sexually reproducing animals and plants, and making their evolution easy to grasp.
