【Abstract】 Chetham’s Library in Manchester is the oldest public library in the UK. Chetham’s Library has a long and legendary history. With its various types of collection focused on literature with local characteristics, it is regarded as the treasure of the UK and even the world. This paper analyzes in detail the characteristics of collection in Chetham’s Library, and compares it with the current situation of public libraries in China. Based on this, the paper suggests the public libraries in China to pay attention to the construction of characteristic resources with different types, to establish complete local literature collection system, to carry out digitization construction of classic collection, and to show to readers in various ways.更多还原
