“俟时乃出”:瑞香花热兴起的环境与人文考察
“Bloom When Ready”: An Environmental and Humanistic Observation of the Rise of Daphne Fever
【摘要】 瑞香花是中国传统名花之一。作为一种观赏植物,它最初是唐末、五代时期在江西庐山由僧人发现的。庐山是瑞香花的原产地。瑞香花被发现之后,其独特的香气和吉祥的寓意,藉由士人的赏识而进入皇家禁苑及千家万户,遍及江西、浙江、安徽、福建、广东、广西、河南、四川等地。苏轼是在到了杭州等地以后,才开始逐渐认识瑞香花的,他对瑞香花的吟咏,促进了瑞香花热的兴起,而他作为一个有影响力的人物,也在瑞香花热的兴起过程中得到印证。瑞香花热的兴起是环境与人文交互作用的产物,是社会繁荣的一种标志。
【Abstract】 Rui Xiang(Daphne) is one of the most famous traditional Chinese flowers. As an ornamental plant it was first discovered by monks in Mount Lushan, Jiangxi Province during the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties. Mount Lushan is also the place of origin of the plant. After its discovery, with its unique fragrance and auspicious meaning, Daphne was highly praised by scholars and thus readily welcomed into both the royal forbidden gardens and thousands of households in Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Henan, Sichuan and so on. It was only after his arrival in Hangzhou and other places that Su Shi became gradually acquainted with the flower, and his chanting of Daphne contributed to the rise of the Daphne fever, during which his role as an influential figure was also confirmed. The rise of the Daphne fever is an outcome of environmental and humanistic interaction that symbolizes social prosperity.
