高校教师工作压力及职业倦怠研究——以公共英语教师为例

【摘要】 作者采取深度访谈法,以大学公共英语教师为例,研究分析高校教师的工作压力情况、主要压力源,及其职业倦怠表现和原因,并根据研究结果结合相关理论,提出应对策略建议。调查发现,公共英语教师普遍面临较大工作压力,表现出较严重的职业倦怠现象。主要压力源包括工作量大、挑战性强、科研难度大及职称晋升难。职业倦怠体现在情绪衰竭、去人格化和个人成就感降低三个方面,主要原因包括教学、科研、职称评定及家务等方面压力大、教学工作重复枯燥、交流学习机会少以及大学对公共英语教学不够重视等。笔者基于调查结果并根据社会支持理论和双因素理论,从组织管理层面对如何帮助大学公共英语教师应对工作压力及职业倦怠提出了建议。

【Abstract】 In this article, the author describes the current situation of the work stress and the occupational burnout that college English teachers are faced with.Through in-depth interview, the author explores the main stressors and analyzes the reasons, and based on the interview results and the related theories, proposes the corresponding suggestions.As shown in the results, most of college English teachers interviewed are faced with great work stress and serious occupational burnout.Main stressors lie on the following aspects, such as the heavy teaching burden, severe challenges in teaching, obstacles in scientific research, and difficult promotion in professional titles.Moreover, occupational burnout mainly embodies emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and diminished personal accomplishment.The results indicate that many teachers are suffering various stresses from teaching, scientific research, professional title evaluation, even their families.And the boring repetition of the unchanging teaching, minor chance for further study and academic exchange, lack of enough attention from college authorities have also intensified the stress.Relying on the research results and the Social Support Theory and the Two Factor Theory, the author proposes the corresponding suggestions to assist the college English teachers to reduce their work stress and relieve their occupational burnout in terms of institutional management.
