【Abstract】 In the west-centric discourse,the exchange of gifts and favors in earthbound Chinese society are considered otherized customs.While Pearl Buck finds favor pattern and gift exchanges widely existing in earthbound local society and they are valuable and significant in maintaining the normal operation of the rural society.Taking The Good Earth and The Mother as examples,this paper analyzes Pearl Buck’s discovery and profound understanding of the exchange of the gifts based on maintaining social morality and improving human relationship.更多还原
