Strategies for protection of medical staff and patients from SARS-CoV-2 infection in otolaryngology emergency in non-epidemic centers of the novel coronavirus pneumonia
【Abstract】 The novel coronavirus pneumonia is a highly infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, which is mainly transmitted through droplets and contact with undetermined risk of aerosol and gastrointestinal transmission. Most people are susceptible to this epidemic disease. During an emergency otolaryngology-head and neck surgery visit, doctors and patients will be in close contact indoors, sneezing, cough and nausea during examinations can easily produce fine droplets and aerosol. Both situations may result in significantly increased risk of exposure. Although most patients do not have epidemiologic linkage to other novel coronavirus pneumonia cases or areas with transmission of COVID-19, adequate protection is important to avoid nosocomial infection among medical and non-medical staff.
