螺旋法:计算机专业课双语教学改革新探索

【摘要】 目前我国高校计算机专业英文教育有两种模式:大学英语必修课和个别专业课程采用的双语教学。前者对计算机专业知识学习没有支撑,后者全英文的教科书和教学课件加大了学生对英语的厌烦和恐惧感,影响专业课学习,对教师的英文水平和专业水平要求也较高。为此提出螺旋学习法,其核心理念是学以致用,将英语学习应用于专业学习,循序渐进地将英语作为计算机专业课程学习工具。该方法强调每门课程专业英语词汇、课程部分章节用英文教材讲解,给出部分英文例题,学期期末设一节文献阅读课,鼓励学生自选该领域前沿英文文献进行阅读并采用英语做Presentation。试点教学表明,螺旋法可有效增强学生应用英语学习专业知识的主动性,提高计算机专业词汇量和文献阅读水平,促进专业学习。螺旋法是一种适合中国国情的计算机专业课双语教学新模式,值得推广。

【Abstract】 There are two existing models of teaching English in the universities of China on computer-majored courses:English as compulsory course and a small number of bilingual courses. The former has little connection and doesn’t provide support to computer knowledge learning. The latter in cludes a small number of English terminology for the major of computer science and put great pressure on students. In order to solve these problems,we propose a new model for teaching on computer-majored courses in bilingual education:spiral method. The key idea is to study major courses in English step by step. In detail,terminology is emphasized in every course,some chapters are lectured in English,some examples are given in English and students are encouraged to have English presentations to show what they have learned. Results from pilot teaching indicate that this new method enhances the active learning of English and professional knowledge and produces good learning effects. The questionnaire survey shows that all of the students can accept spiral learning method,and think that the spiral method is helpful in learning English and professional knowledge. 81% of the students think that the spiral method doesn’t put pressure on themselves. 57.1% of the students think that compared with adopting bilingual teaching on the given course,the spiral method which are applied into all of courses is better,28.6% of the students accept both methods. Spiral method is worthy of further testing and spreading as it may be suitable to the conditions of Chinese universities.
