【Abstract】 Bao Gui’s Understanding and Evaluating Experimental Research in Applied Linguistics expounds the principles and methods of experimental research in applied linguistics in terms of the trinity model of experimental design, experimental administration and statistical analysis, thereby developing a system of validity indicators of experimental research. This article discusses the academic values of this scholarly work with respect to experimental design, control for threats to validity as well as statistical literacy. It is suggested that researchers in foreign language teaching should have a good grip of the strengths and limitations of each experimental design, maintain a keen awareness of threats to validity throughout the research process, and improve the reporting practice of statistical analysis.更多还原
