【Abstract】 Contemporary British writer Jeanette Winterson rose to fame overnight for her debut book Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit. In this novel, Winterson uses the Bible as a foundational text while challenging its authority as a discourse of power, thus writing "a Bible of My [Her] Own." This "Bible of My [Her] Own" incorporates and juxtaposes fantastic stories such as fairy tales, legends, dreams and hallucinations, thus making repeated intervention in the realistic narrative. It impacts greatly on our understanding of the "novel," and builds a wonderful heterotopia that embraces difference and diversity.
