Effects of Climate Change on Soil Quality and Plant Nutrition in Tea Gardens
【Abstract】 With the increase of temperature and CO2 concentration, and more extreme weather events, such as high temperature, long spell of drought, and rainstorm, which have been adversely affecting soil quality and plant nutrition. The available data show that climate change reduces soil organic matter and available plant nutrient contents, changes the balance of plant nutrients, which would increase C, but decrease N, P, K, Mg, S, Fe and Zn contents, finally reduce tea production and quality. Reducing and/or no tillage, returning prunings back to soils, more organic fertilizer, appropriate chemical fertilizers, strengthening the construction of drainage and irrigation systems should be taken into consideration to cope with climate change for the sustainable tea production.
