【Abstract】 The Tongxu Medical College was established by the puppet Shanxi Provincial Office on the basis of the previous Shanxi Provincial Hospital with the suggestion of the headquarters of the Japanese first army in China. Participants in the college’s establishment also include the Office’s advisory body, the medical department of the Japanese army, as well as the Taiyuan epidemic diagnosis, treatment and prevention class of the Colleagues Association, all under the leadership of the Japanese military headquarters. Research on the origin and influence of the Tongxu Medical College is not only an integral part of the modern medical history of Shanxi Province, but it also presents a rare case of sociology of science.
