【Abstract】 The paper firstly reviews the viewpoints on clause structure from the Chinese linguistic perspective,followed by a brief account of the concept of Theme and the Systemic Functional Linguistic( SFL) multi-functional views on the structure of clauses. It focuses on applying the SFL framework to studying the definition of Topical Theme,its relation with other metafunctions,its classification,realization as well as the relationship with its context. Finally,the paper points out that the SFL may be one of the frameworks appropriate for the study of topical theme in a Chinese clause.更多还原
