Body Control and Cultural Crisis
【Abstract】 Native American writer Louise Erdrich published her first dystopia novel Future Home of Living God in 2017,which displays a future apocalyptical scene in the world, when evolution not only stops but goes retrospectively. Human beings, specifically women in their reproductive age,are facing the crisis of their body control as well as the eco-cultural and political predicament. The present paper analyzes the ecological and social crisis in the speculative future fiction from perspectives of cultural impasse and construction and,via the main character Cedar’s body struggle and cultural reflection, interprets the native American’s ethnic concern and constructive significance in the writing.
