【Abstract】 General Secretary Xi Jinping’s five-point speech on Taiwan issue is the latest and most authoritative signal released by China’s top leader on cross-Strait reunification to the world. It is regarded as a declaration, road map and action plan for the peaceful reunification of China in the new era, which has been expressed highly concerned by various stakeholders on the Taiwan issue and also aroused enthusiastic response and strong resonance among all Chinese people. This paper makes a comprehensive and in-depth interpretation on the background of the speech, the new China’s achievements on Taiwan problem in the past 70 years, and how to understand the strategy of reunification-from "the inevitability and necessity of reunification" to "the path and content of reunification" in the new era.
