【Abstract】 Discussing the smell writings of the New Period novels,especially those that are neglected and suspended by the literature history,this paper reveals an exploration of individual freedom. Smell is the sense of desire and memory. Smell’s desire has the power of intuition,while smell’s memory leads to individual dreams and freedom.
