【Abstract】 Although Ruan Dacheng has an unsavory reputation,his opera works are famous for weird plot, coincidence and misunderstanding. It became such great hits at the time, playing a significant role in Chinese theatrical circle during late Ming and early Qing Dynasty. This thesis will analyze Ruan Dacheng’s script writing skills through in-depth interpretation of the noted work Yan Zi Jian from the perspective of role setting, plot arrangement and structural skills. In his work, the lively leading roles are in close and complicated relationship, while supporting roles being funny. For plot arrangement, he paid attention to originality and innovation, utilizing multiple misunderstandings and coincidences, making it complex without confusion. In addition, hot and cold scenes can also be seen. In structural arrangement, he often set hints subtly and skillfully. The analyzing aim is to find why Ruan Dacheng’s opera works are so popular.更多还原
