【Abstract】 During Turkey’s single-party era (1923～1946),the Turkish ruling elites passed the land reform law.However,the reasons for the land reform are still not clear,and there are many controversial and contradictory explanations.This paper concludes that there are many factors that influence the ruling elites’ understanding of the land issue and their supportive attitudes toward the land reform.These factors include the ideology of peasantism,the fears of rural social unrests caused by modernization,proletarianisation and socialist ideas,and a desire to strengthen the nationalist ideology of the Republic of Turkey in rural areas and their supports for the new regime.更多还原
