【摘要】 庚子地方赔款,指的是《辛丑条约》内载四亿五千万两大赔款额之外,由中国各地方另外赔付的二千余万两白银。美国国家档案馆藏索偿委员会的档案显示,在赔款问题的交涉与实际操作过程中,中外存在严重不平等,本应归入大赔款的教会与传教士损失,大部分已由中国地方政府赔付,这造成大赔款与地方赔款的双重索偿现象。地方赔款原本被清朝官员视为减轻清廷负担的手段,结果造成民众的双重负担,既影响了地方经济和社会稳定,又为此后列强对中国的经济文化渗透打开方便之门,给近代中国造成长久危害。更多还原

【Abstract】 The Boxer Local Indemnity refers to the indemnity of at least 20 million paid by Chinese local governments, except for the central indemnity of 450 million signed in the Boxer Protocol. Qing officials regarded the local indemnity as an important measure to relieve central government’s burden, while in fact it made Chinese common people bear double burdens that jeopardized local economies and social stability. It also facilitated the economic and cultural penetration of foreign countries that caused permanent harm to China.更多还原
