Emerging Engineering Education and Emerging Liberal Arts Education: The Integration of “Two Brains” for Better Future
【Abstract】 Eemerging engineering education advocates that engineering talent training should be oriented to the forefront of engineering reform, which then encourages a series of educational reforms, such as the emerging liberal arts education. In the context of new industries and new situation, which way will talent cultivation take? In fact, the continuous integration of technical education and non-technical education in engineering education has essentially presented the main characteristics and demands of engineering education evolution in different historical stages. Based on the synergy evolution of engineering science and technology and liberal arts and the organizational theory, this paper, drawing on the experience of Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence(University of Cambridge), the Design School of Stanford University and the Media Lab of MIT, discusses the "Two-Brain Project" of Zhejiang University in terms of mechanism, new organization construction and new culture/civilization calling. This paper attempts to explore a new path for interdisciplinary platform construction and future development through the innovative practice of "Two Brains" integration of emerging liberal arts and emerging engineering.
