一种用于RFPA的双模混合包络跟踪的电源调制器
A Dual-Mode Hybrid Envelope Tracking Supply Modulator for RFPA
【摘要】 本文介绍了一种高效率高速的双模式混合架构包络跟踪电源调制器,该调制器用于射频功率放大器(RFPA)的供电.该双模混合电源调制器由一个混合型架构的包络跟踪(ET)电源调制器和一个快速响应的平均功率跟踪(APT)电源调制器组成.在所需输出功率较高时,该电源调制器工作在ET模式,最高可以跟踪带宽为40MHz的LTE包络信号;在所需输出功率较低时,该电源调制器切换至APT模式,并根据系统要求输出不同电平,响应时间小于20μs,能满足LTE协议的要求.该电源调制器采用TSMC 65nm工艺进行设计,测试结果表明,在RFPA等效负载为6.2Ω电阻和680pF电容并联,采用峰均功率比(PAPR)为7.9dB的LTE 40MHz包络信号输入,输出功率为500mW时最高效率可达78%.
【Abstract】 A dual-mode hybrid envelope tracking supply modulator(HSM)with high efficiency and wideband is presented.The HSM is used for powering radio frequency power amplifier(RFPA).The HSM is consisted of a hybrid envelope tracking(ET)and a fast-responding average power tracking(APT)supply modulator.The HSM operates at ET mode when output power is high and it can track the long term evolution(LTE)envelope signal up to 40 MHz bandwidth.The HSM switches to APT mode when output power is low and can output different powers with response time less than 20μs meeting LTE protocol.The supply modulator is implemented on TSMC65 nm process.For LTE 40 MHz input signal with 7.9 dB peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR)the proposed supply modulator achieves efficiency of 78% at 500 mW output power with fixed load of 6.2 Ωand 680 pF in parallel.
