不同住宿模式对中国大学生跨文化能力影响研究——以中美文化研究中心为例

【摘要】 中国高等教育国际化高速发展四十年,伴随着本土国际化进程加快,中国大学生"在国内留学"的规模悄然增长。聚焦不同住宿模式如何影响跨文化情境中的中国大学生跨文化能力的发展,以有30余年历史的中美文化研究中心为例,采用混合研究法对234名毕业生数据进行研究。分析发现:中外学生混住模式的中国大学生比中国学生合住或独居模式学生在跨文化知识方面有明显优势,外语技能和批判性思维在访谈中得到有力回应,但跨文化态度方面处于劣势,两组学生在内在收获和外在收获方面无显著差异;是否为独生子女、父亲职业、父亲受教育程度、项目类别等大学生个体特征对跨文化能力存在不同程度影响,入学前的海外经历对跨文化能力没有显著的影响。

【Abstract】 Chinese higher education has been developing at a rapid pace for 40 years. With the accelerating process of local internationalization, the scale of Chinese students who study in a branch campus of oversea university in China or in the Sino-foreign cooperative colleges is growing inadvertently.Traditional researches tend to pay more attention to the adaptation and development of foreign students institutions of internationalization at home; instead, Chinese students in the same intercultural context are often in a secondary position or even marginalized. This study focuses on the impact of different accommodation patterns on the intercultural competence of Chinese post-graduate students in this cross-cultural context. Taking the Center for Chinese and American Studies with over 30 years as an example, the mixed research methods are used to analyze the data of 234 alumni. The results show that: First, Chinese post-graduate students living in the mixed accommodation pattern of Chinese and foreign students have a distinct advantage in intercultural knowledge compared with the ones of Chinese students sharing or living alone, they have strong foreign language skills and critical thinking, but with no advantage in intercultural attitude. Both groups have no significant difference in internal outcomes and external outcomes; Second, The individual characteristics of these students such as children numbers in a family, father’s occupation, father’s education level and program category have different degrees of influence on intercultural competence except overseas experiences before enrollment.
