【Abstract】 Shang Jiwu’s new work,Research of Narrative Art in Liaozhaizhiyi,is his masterpiece of innovation based on reference and inheritance. In his work,based on intensively studying the text of Liaozhaizhiyi,he reasonably refers some relevent theoretical viewpoints of western narrative theory,critically inherits some achievement of critical theory of Chinese ancient novels,integrates his characteristic acdemic view and multidimensional artistic thought.
