Atrial fibrillation is associated with an increased risk for stroke. It is demonstrated that left atrial appendage occlusion(LAAO) is not inferior to warfarin for preventing stroke in atrial fibrillation. Anticoagulation/antiplatelet therapy is necessary to prevent thrombus formation on the device after a successful LAAO procedure.
